Accomplishment Summary : Two-Term Presidency
During my two terms as President of the Baltimore Association of Nepalese in America (BANA), I had the privilege to serve and lead one of the most vibrant and united Nepali-American communities in the U.S. Our journey from 2019 to 2025 was filled with progress, purpose, and pride.
1. Strengthening Community and Culture
- BANA grew into a trusted cultural and community hub with over 2,500 members. We hosted over 150 events including annual street festivals, Teej celebrations, New Year gatherings, and more, promoting Nepali traditions and unity.
Programs like Nepali Language Classes, Dance Classes, and Poetry and Music Sessions helped younger generations stay connected to their roots.
Our signature event, the Nepali Street Festival, attracted over 2,500 attendees and brought the broader community together to celebrate diversity, food, music, and dance.

2. Health and Wellness Services
We partnered with Baltimore County Health Department and the Lions Club to organize 8 free community health camps each year offering flu shots, COVID vaccines, screenings, and consultations.
We prioritized mental health with workshops and support sessions that reached hundreds of community members.
We introduced monthly senior programs (“Buwa Aama Sanga BANA”) providing checkups, social engagement, entertainment, and care for our elders.
3. Education and Youth Empowerment
Launched the F1 Student Scholarship Program, receiving over 80 applications in its first year.
Organized interactive sessions with students from Towson University and CCBC, creating opportunities for dialogue and mentorship.
Developed the official BANA Mobile App, giving our community digital access to events, memberships, and services.
4. Sports and Team Building
Led successful events like the 3rd BANA Cup Football Tournament and 4th BANA Cup Volleyball Tournament, welcoming teams from across the U.S. and uniting players and fans alike.
Strengthened our partnership with the Nepal Embassy through friendly matches, including the third Nepal Embassy vs. BANA football game.
5. Community Outreach and Humanitarian Aid
Organized several GoFundMe drives and financial aid efforts to support families in emergencies and during the COVID-19 crisis.
Held partnerships with local schools, faith-based organizations, and nonprofits for community cleanups, health education, and outreach events.

6. Organizational Growth and Legacy
Successfully paid off the entire mortgage of the BANA building, securing full ownership for future generations.
Oversaw smooth leadership transitions with two major elections (Executive Committee and Trustee Board), promoting democracy and transparency.
Hosted the first-ever flag-raising ceremony featuring the flags of Nepal, the U.S., and Maryland, symbolizing our unity and inclusion in American society.
Closing Thoughts
I am honored to have led BANA through a time of meaningful growth and connection. These accomplishments were possible because of our dedicated team, volunteers, supporters, and community members. I especially thank our seniors, youth, and partner organizations who stood by us.
As I hand over leadership, I remain committed to supporting BANA in any way I can. Together, we’ve built a stronger foundation—and I am confident that BANA will continue to grow as a pillar of unity, service, and cultural pride.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve.
